Personality:
An all round easy-going young man, Will Turner is the epitome of earnestness and sincerity, both of which shine through in his eyes, his expressions, and his actions. Often eager to please, he is a gentleman, and always puts others before himself. He may appear naïve, unassuming and easily-manipulated at times because of his trusting nature, but when given the chance, he might just prove after all that he has a few surprises and tricks of his own up his sleeve.

Having grown up in a humble lower-middle class family, Will is used to honest hard work, as he's had to help his mother support them both through the years. He strongly believes in giving his all in whatever he does, and his determination in achieving what he wants can be seen from how his passion for Fencing led him to become the star and captain of the Fencing team of Balamb University.

A strong sense of moral righteousness governs Will's way of life. Once he makes a promise, he will do all in his power to keep it. For people who matter, Will would do anything in the world for them. He is the sort of guy who's prone to heroics to prove himself, sometimes even rashly jumping headfirst into such situations without thinking about the consequences. Will's a bit of a dreamer; he's always dreamed of being someone's hero, of proving his mettle as someone, beyond his pretty boy good looks. He's always dreamed of somehow living a life less than ordinary, perhaps even one that has to do with his inexplicable yearning for the sea.

Biography:
Young Will Turner never knew his father. From as far back as he can remember, his mother has been his only family. He had heard the stories though, some of them from her, some from other people close to his mother: about 'Ol Bootstrap Bill Turner'. They told him Bill Turner had been a fisherman, a sailor; he had always loved the sea, his mother used to say. Had been? Had always loved? Will asked them. (More than he loved me? He secretly wondered.) Why, yes, they replied, for who knows where he is now?

On his twelfth birthday, Will had a childish idea. His father was a sailor, wasn't he? And he was at sea. (Will refused to believe that he wasn't still very much alive) Will decided that he would go down to the Passamaquoddy Docks, and call for Bootstrap Bill, and then his father would answer and come to him. It was his son's twelfth birthday, how could he not? He spent almost half a day at the docks, telling at the open sea until his throat was hoarse, but of course, his father never showed up.

But it wasn't all for nothing: as he turned disheartenedly to go, he caught sight of the young, but already very beautiful, Elizabeth Swann. She was, as usual, hanging around her father's shipyard. From that day on, inexplicably, he developed a very large but very secret crush on her, the fishing magnate's daughter. He started making frequent trips to the docks, but though he told himself it was to continue looking out for his father, he knew deep down inside that he really went there every day just to catch a glimpse of Elizabeth. Though he knew that probably nothing would ever happened between them, (especially not if he continued to creep around cowardly and sheepishly whenever he saw her), because they were from two completely different worlds, he secretly still harbored hope that something might. For now, he was content just admiring her from afar.

Will and his mother led a fairly frugal lifestyle when Will was growing up. They had to depend on his mother's sole income, but managed to get by decently enough. Will became a sort of handyman around the house, helping his mother with chores and fixing stuff. He soon found that he had quite a way with tools, and became quite an expert at fixing or making things with his hands. It was when he started volunteering at some self-help building and redevelopment schemes at the Narshe Zozo Slums that he realized that he wanted to become an architect, to build and design buildings and homes for people to live in. he was capable enough to get through High School with just above average grades; hence he began school at Balamb University with Architecture as his major.

It was in his first year of University that he developed an interest in Fencing. Will had always been a romantic and a dreamer at heart, and he figured Fencing was the closest he'd ever get to actual swashbuckling action. Of course by now he'd already stopped visiting the docks every day just to see Elizabeth Swann, but the naïve part of him still had fantasies of winning her heart some day through some form of heroic act. In his daydreams, anyway. With his chiseled good looks, Will could probably have any girl, but he had eyes for just one.
